Addis and his unsuccessful attempt to break into the unions in Sheffield with the help of David Ward. Eventually, J.B. (James Bacon) was sent packing back to London. In "Put Yourself in His Place," the part of J.B. Addis is played by a character named Henry Little. A silent movie based on the book was made in 1912.
